Site Administration
"Public Information takes many forms - the simple sign outside a meeting place that says 'A.A. meeting tonight'; listing in local phone directories; distribution of A.A. literature; and radio and television shows using sophisticated media techniques. Whatever the form, it comes down to 'one drunk carrying the message to another drunk,' whether through personal contact or through the use of third parties and the media."

Frequently Asked Questions About A.A. Web Sites
The web site committee needs your help!
The web site committee needs your help! The committee endeavors to include meeting schedules and driving directions for EVERY meeting in the state. That's about 700 groups represented here.
"I am responsible. When anyone,
anywhere, reaches out for help,
I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that: I am
responsible..."
--Responsibility Declaration, AA Grapevine Inc.
No amount of magic will gather and submit all the groups' information to the web site. It takes an effort from you. Take a look at the driving directions and schedules for your District or Zone. Then make sure your group is represented, and represented accurately. If your group is not, please read the instructions that follow, and take action.
We're not done with you yet.....
Now check out your neighboring groups (any group you know about). Are they equally represented? If not, make the group aware that we are here, and that someone in the group may contact the web site committee - or do it yourself.
We're trying to fill in the blanks on the site and make it as accurate as possible, as soon as possible, however we need everyone's help.
Thank you all very much, and we hope you enjoy your web site.
Instructions for Submitting Group Information And Updates to the Web Site

Each District/Zone has two separate pages on the web site. The first page has two columns, one providing group name and street address, and the second, simple and concise driving directions to the group's meeting place. The second page is simply the District/Zone meeting schedule with time and type of meeting.
The web site committee needs the exact street address of the meeting place. Not the mailing address or contact address but the actual physical street address. The reason being is that we put the address into a computer program that pinpoints the exact location of the meeting place. The program is able to provide adequate information in 99% of all cases, as well as providing the webmasters with a graphical representation of the location of your meeting place - thus making the editing much simpler for the webmasters. If your meeting is within a complex of buildings at one address, then you'll need to submit additional written directions.
Last, we need a little human touch too! The address location software cannot determine what side of the road you meet on, or the type and color of the building. We need you to provide us with the information personally. We also need you to provide unique information such as; parking in the rear of building only, meeting is on second floor, or must walk to the back access of the building. Is it a church or a hospital, or any other unique information.
The web site committee has developed a uniform means of installing driving directions. This has proven to be very effective. From here, it is often very difficult to edit some handwritten driving directions, regardless of how well they were written. True especially when we have to edit directions down to thirty or forty words. Sending us the above requested information, on 99% of all occasions, allows us to determine the most popular intersection or land-marks in any given town and establish driving directions from that point. The person trying to locate a meeting need only find this most popular intersection on the crudest of maps to be able to determine the best course of travel to a meeting.
Each District / Zone also has a second page on the web site. This one is the meeting schedule. The schedules are compact and designed to be downloaded and printed off the web site to a single sheet of paper. Then photo copied at leisure by anyone in the group or district. The idea behind the on line schedules is they are more consistent and easily up-dated in a timely manner (in theory) than annual schedules, and they may be obtained by one or many in a given home group or by the interested public. The results are current schedules and reduced or shared printing costs, as well as a ready supply.
All we need here is for a responsible member of a home group or a District PI/Web Chair to go to the web site and click on webmaster@aageorgia.org on the first page. Let us know what changes are taking place in any group's meeting schedule, type, or location. Please give as complete an update as possible, and let us know as soon as there are changes.
To Make Changes to Your Group Meeting and DirectionsPlease be as thorough as possible when giving us the information about your meeting.
Please include your Group Service Number and District Number and Zone when submitting information.

This statement is web site policy based upon a collection of voted consciences of Area 16 Alcoholics Anonymous
and the Web Site committee. We, the collective conscience of Area 16 and the
Web Site Committee wish:
*revised on 10/17/2009 per Web Site Committee
The web masters' email addresses will not closely resemble the names of the webmasters, so anonymous email addresses will be set up. There will always be two persons with access to the webmasters' mailbox on the web site. No one person will every have sole access to return emails or inquiries.
There will never be any one person in physical control of the web site. Two persons well versed in A.A. Traditions, web site design, and who are internet savvy, will be appointed to rotate with the State's PI chairs.
No one individual will hold the site's accounts and domain. The site and domain are owned by www.aageorgia.org, Area 16 of AA, or similar. Site administrators are listed with the Interland as Area 16 Public Information Chair and Co-chair. Passwords are easily changed. The Public Information chairs, and the programmer, will be all that have passwords until a rotation or problem arises. Billing will be to aageorgia and mailed to Current Area 16 Treasurer. Signature cards will be filled out and mailed in to the afore mentioned upon service position rotation. When service positions rotate, signature cards and password changes are all that is required to pass the web site on.. All contact addresses will remain the GSSA mailing address.
The web site, http://www.aageorgia.org/, will post the phone numbers of answering services and hotlines directly maintained by the conscience of individual districts or zones. The web site will not post individual names or personal phone numbers as contacts for A.A. groups or districts and zones.
It is proposed that all groups represented be regular registered groups with GSO and GSSA, and have a group service number. Remember, this site belongs to all groups in Georgia.
It is suggested that each District elect a web representative. This representative would be responsible for keeping the web site committee aware of any new groups in the district, or of any schedule changes within that district. The most likely candidate for this position is the District's PI person, but anyone who is familiar with the internet and has a computer at home may do the job.
